Howie Piles On
Nobody jumps on a bandwagon faster than Howard Dean. However in this case the particularly sad thing about Vermont’s Energizer Bunny Intellectual is that he has spent a lot of time at Dartmouth (on the College’s dime, mind you), and therefore he should know better than to make stupid remarks like his retweet below. But then Howard Dean has always chosen fashion over truth; why be different this time?
Dean is referring to a petition drafted by a group named Ultraviolet that purportedly has received 50,000 on-line signatures. Its text:
Dartmouth: Sexual Assault is serious. Treat it that way.
The crisis of sexual assaults on campus must be stopped. Take student recommendations seriously and expel rapists, list rape as a punishable offense and expulsion as the preferred punishment in the student handbook, and block access to the ‘rape guide’ on campus.
Here’s the back story.
Addendum: Let’s hope that Howard Dean will not be showing his face in Hanover any time soon. For me he’s always been a governor to avoid.

D Afraid of a Little Competish
So our colleague and Dartblog writer Joe Asch informed me that the D has rejected our cunning advertising campaign. Uh-oh. The Dartmouth is widely known as a breeding ground for instant New York Times successes,…

How Regents Should Reign
As Dartmouth alumni proceed through the legal hoops necessary to defuse a Board-packing plan—which put in unhappy desuetude an historic 1891 Agreement between alumni and the College guaranteeing a half-democratically-elected Board of Trustees—it strikes one…
