Alumni Elections: Vote For One
Even though the alumni election ends tomorrow, I am going to go out on a limb at this juncture and predict that all of the candidates will garner 100% of the properly filled out votes.
Quite amazing, when you think about it, that the Alumni Council can run single-candidate elections year after year and keep a straight face.
Addendum: A lot of alumni are sitting out this “election” — despite multiple e-mailings and pleas for participation from the Association of Alumni and the Alumni Council, like the one below:
If, as the letter says, choosing to participate in a single-candidate election is an “affirmation of the process,” then perhaps the 90% or so of alumni who will not vote are sending a message, too (in contrast, in the 2010 election that I lost, over 38% of alumni voted).
