Strategic Planning Put on Hold
IP Folt has sent out a memo to let us know that the committees, working groups and their assorted hangers-on in the strategic planning process will not be submitting their findings in November as expected. We can now look forward to a preliminary report during the Winter term, with final conclusions appearing in the Spring. The memo came out yesterday, Election Day, timing that could well have been chosen so that the announcement would be lost in the excitement.
What to make of this delay? My surmise is that the candidates being interviewed for President have one and all told the search committee that they have scant interest in coming to Dartmouth if their mission is to do no more than execute Carol Folt’s strategic plan. In response, the College tabled the strategic planning process — as this space recommended more than six months ago.
