Words to Send Chills
A while back we noted the possibility that, while IP Folt will not be a candidate for the Presidency, nothing would stop the Presidential Search Committee from choosing her nonetheless. Today in The D, former Dean of the Faculty Ed Berger raises that very scenario — that very depressing scenario, if you have been an attentive reader of these pages, or if you are on confidential terms with about 90% of the faculty:
Although Folt has said she will not apply for the position of College president, Berger said he wishes the presidential search committee would consider Folt, given her long history of service to the College.
“I worry about someone from the outside who’s never been part of the Dartmouth community, even an undergrad from 30 years ago,” Berger said. “It changes so much.”
Don’t be too sure that this is not going to happen.
