SEIU Protest Report
Dartmouth’s first protest gathering in a long while was uneventful. About 125 Service Employees International Union Local 560 members and less than a handful of students gathered in front of the Hop as attendees of the latest budget meeting arrived.
The protestors were quiet (no chanting), polite to a fault (no picketing), and they stayed within the cordons that the College had placed in front of the Hop in anticipation of the demonstration.
SEIU flyers were distributed that asked the College to keep control of the Hanover Inn, rather than lease it to an independent, professional operator. See an excerpt below:
Anyone who has dined at the Inn at any point in the last decade knows where the sentiments of your humble servant lie on this question.
