Special Feature: The rent's unpaid, dear.
Fiscal infelicity, two (or more) open trustee seats, a deep endowment draw in a rough market. Not to mention the Second Dartmouth College Case. Jim Kim & Co. have a lot to contemplate. Dartblog brings you news and commentary from Hanover and the world at large.

More Appointment Delays
It looks like the Acting Dean of the College will not be replacing the Acting Athletics Director any time soon.

Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to let you know that the search for the Director of Athletics and Recreation will begin in the late spring/early summer. We had originally hoped that it would begin this winter, but as you know the College is deeply engaged in the budget reduction and investment process and will be for the next few months. The President and I have decided that starting the search at this later date will give us a clear picture of the implications and allow us to have a very successful search.
Bob Ceplikas will continue his good leadership of the athletics department during this period. When we get closer to launching the search, we will let you know.
Thank you so much for your patience during this time.
Sincerely,
Sylvia Spears
Dean of the College
As I commented a while back in a post entitled The Dartmouth College of Acting, President Kim needs to move more forcefully to strengthen his administrative team. The holdovers from the previous adminstration are not going to suddenly discover within themselves the energy, spirit of innovation and rigor that the College needs.
