A Win for Samwick
Professor of Economics Andrew Samwick, who is the director of the Rockefeller Center, has been selected as the New Hampshire Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Professor Samwick wins my personal award for Professor Most Likely to be in His Office When I Happen to be Walking Through Rocky and Knock on His Door. This is no faint praise.
Another feather in the cap of our first-rate Economics Department.
Addendum: An additional data point in the ongoing debate about research vs. teaching: Andrew proves that you can have both. Beyond his public role in Washington, and his well read blog, he has published innumerable scholarly works, of which twelve have been cited over one hundred times by fellow economists in their own research.
