Singing Praises
Yesterday, I found myself in a rather unlikely place on a gorgeous fall day here in Hanover. But it was a matter of friendship.
I was at the Hopkins Center attending a Dartmouth College Gospel Choir concert. One of my best friends had to threaten me with the end of our friendship to goad me into attending, but once I sat down and started listening and watching, I was glad to be there. Especially so after witnessing the same friend perform a surprise solo and listening to another good friend’s heartfelt tale of giving.
Indeed Walt Cunningham was on top of his game as he directed a masterpiece of an afternoon show. Incredibly, after the 2:00pm performance ended at 3:30pm, the Choir had to prepare for their second show of the day at 5:00pm! Walt’s piano playing was exquisite and the talents of a great many Dartmouth students went in to putting on an excellent and moving afternoon of music. My humble words here cannot truly do them justice.
I encourage you to find a CD of the Gospel Choir or catch a show if they’re performing the next time you visit the College on the Hill.
