in his letter of August 10 to Alumni, Parents, and Friends of Dartmouth Football, Acting Director of Athletics Bob Ceplikas ‘78 wrote:

The issue of the honest disposition of Friends’ gifts also came up in August of last year when Loren McGean ‘92 ended her family’s longstanding relationship with the College’s perennial national champion figure skating team. She delicately stated at the time that the College had not been transparent in its accounting of the use of gifts by Friends of Dartmouth Figure Skating.
This page has no opinion on how Friends funds have been disbursed in the past or whether giving by Friends has lead to reduced budgetary contributions from the College to the football and skating teams. But we can note that the question is much discussed among donors to the College’s athletics programs.
President Kim has his work cut out for him in restoring the credibility of the Dartmouth adminstration among Friends of Dartmouth Sports.
