The Intersection of Sports and Law
There is little that I find more interesting than sports and law, so when these two topics intersect it is a winning combination. And what could be better than a story involving New York Giants football and gun control laws? I suppose you could reply, news about New York Mets baseball and higher education, but this story is pretty good.
A few days ago Plaxico Burress, an injured (and incredible) Giants wide receiver accidental shot himself in the leg with a handgun. Now Burress is being brought up on charges for carrying a firearm without a permit in New York City. It seems rather silly to me to put someone like Burress (only a step or two more dangerous than Martha Stewart) in prison, especially for violation of an arbitrary law and personal idiocy rather than any criminal action or intent.
