Milton Friedman Institute Update 2.0
Dartblog has posted before about plans at the University of Chicago to open a center dedicated to research in economics, bearing the namesake of the late economist Milton Friedman. Joe’s original post and my update here.
The latest is that the university is seeking to pacify critics by changing the proposed name from the Milton Friedman Institute to the Milton Friedman Institute for Research in Economics. What is accomplished here, I suppose, is a slightly less catchy name for promotional and fundraising materials, but a title that indicates to skeptical detractors that the center will indeed be used for research in economics, rather that free-market propaganda or whatever else is feared.
