Hands Off
For a while now Congress has been looking, with an eye towards regulation, into the endowments at major universities. All I have to say to that is: hands off. They have already royally screwed up public primary and secondary education, an abyss many parts of the country are only just starting to climb out of with strict quantitative standards and the burgeoning charter school movement. America is known around the world for having one of the best postsecondary systems. Why Congress thinks they need to get involved is beyond me.
As the saying goes: The two things Congress does best are nothing and overreacting. Here the problem is the latter.
