It’s Labor Day, Folks…

…and a more inspiring example of dedicated labor I could not have witnessed today. Trying to make the most of what is left of summer I decided to go in to New York City for the afternoon. I missed the 1:40 train and decided to stop by ‘Commuter Coffee’ a little dinner/ coffee shop near the station for a little lunch. The sign on the door said that the shop would only be open until 2 and it was already about 1:50. I thought they might be locking up so I hesitantly walked over to the take-out counter but the smiling waitress sat me down at a both and fawned over me like she was my mother. Two more parties walked in over the next five minutes at which point the waitress volunteered to the fellow working the register who I think was the owner that she would be happy to keep the place open another hour. Another family walked in and asked if they were still serving food. The still smiling waitress replied that if they were hungry, the restaurant was and would always be open.
