A McCain-Hillary Ticket, Perhaps?
It would certainly be an unlikely combination but there are at least a few reasons not to laugh off the possibility. Many Hillary supporters are already getting behind John McCain, who understands the importance of the opportunity to pick off some formerly Democratic voters. As far as the Democratic primary went, the voters who chose Hillary represented the more moderate/ conservative wing of the party; although this may have less to do with Hillary’s moderate credentials as it does with just how far left Barack Obama is. She’ll be speaking in just a few minutes at the DNC, maybe blowing this whole idea out of the water, but she might just be bitter enough to take the VP slot, if McCain is shrewed enough to offer it. I think that McCain should and will win this election anyway, but a unity ticket of sorts would certainly make things interesting. Joe Biden, of course, had already expressed respect for McCain and an interest in running with him on a ticket, but beggers can’t be choosers and McCain was certainly not going to draft him.
