Smoking Good Art
The State of Minnesota recently (and unfortunately) passed a bill banning smoking in bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. The bill did, however, include an art exception, that is, smoking would be allowed for actors or performers in plays, etc.
But ingenuity has triumphed (and perhaps the same may be said for freedom). Bar owners and patrons have taken to putting on improv theater nights and productions in which all customers are actors with cigarette and ashtray props. One such production was entitled ‘Before the Ban’ with amateur actors portraying what hanging out in a club was like in bygone days, another such artful production is called ‘The Tobacco Monologues.’
