« Saturday Sonata | Home | Another Lie in the Shipler Letter »

I am very happy, as I think many others are, that coverage of the presidential primaries is finally coming to an end. Only two small lines at the bottom of Drudge Report and no stories on CNN today.

In the one story I perused, more to avoid academic reading than out of genuine interest, I found two Obama gems.

Obama’s detailed plan (read: platitudes) for “fixing” Social Security. He is against the president’s plan or anything like it and offered these profound thoughts:

“We have to protect Social Security for future generations without pushing the burden onto seniors who have earned the right to retire in dignity”

Obama’s views on treatment by the press. I was not aware that “scrutiny” could be used as a synonym for “fawning.”

“The fact is that the press will submit him to the same scrutiny they are giving to me.”
