In honor of the temporary stay of spring being suffered here in Hanover, New Hampshire, we have Ricardo Montalban and Esther Williams singing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” by Frank Loesser. Loesser’s original lyric gave both parts a character name, as in a screenplay. The man was “the wolf” and the young lady “the mouse.” The best renderings are not too predatory—Dean Martin’s is the very best, in my opinion—and I think Montalban stays too true to character here. But it is an amusing little turn.
