Special Feature: In Pursuit of a New President
The College is on the hunt for its seventeenth president after James Wright announced his June 2009 resignation. A search committee has been formed; its antecedental task is the resolution of this question: is this a time for steady-as-she-goes, or is there a mandate for fresh leadership? Updates here.

I have been meaning to post on this topic for quite a long time, inspired after sitting down with my colleagues on the Dartblog staff and being struck by the variety and diversity of circumstances, opinions, and interests.
Beginning with what we are all doing here at Dartmouth, Jake is a student of Mathematics, Jenn is majoring in the American foreign policy branch of Government with attention also to French, while I am pursuing a degree in Psychology and the political theory/ constitutional law field of Government.
I come from Connecticut, my county leaning towards New England character of the rest of the state but also pulled towards New York City. Jake is from the NYC proper, and Jenn hails from California, and a (very pleasant, as far as I can tell) region somewhat torn between West and Southwest.
In politics, Jenn is a true conservative and President of the Dartmouth College Republicans, Jake is a left-leaning, moderate Democrat, and I am somewhere in the libertarian center torn between the left’s attention to social freedom and right’s to economic. Among our favorite political, economic, and social theorists are Karl Marx, Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, and John Stuart Mill.
As far as interests are concerned, Jenn is a nationally-ranked shooter and country music aficionado, heavily involved in all things political. Jake is interested in French cuisine, European strategy board games, and golden-age Broadway theatre. I am an avid New York Mets baseball fan and also enjoy debate, political satire, and a good cigar.
On the new staff of Dartblog we enjoy diversity of religious belief with the Catholic, Jewish, and atheistic faiths represented, and celebrate all flavors of ice cream from New York Super-fudge Chunk to Rocky Road to plain old Coffee.
UPDATE: I am not, and indeed could not, forget about Joe in an overall diversity analysis, however I have confined my remarks above to the writers who will be working for Dartblog through the next year.
