« A Eulogy for WFB | Home | Hillary Clinton…Cool? »

Asked at a recent fund-raiser why his candidacy was struggling among Pennsylvania voters, Barack Obama responded that, “So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or antitrade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Hillary Clinton had to say in response, rightly that “Senator Obama’s remarks are elitist and they are out of touch. They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans. Certainly not the Americans that I know.”

A spokesman for John McCain said, “Instead of apologizing to small-town Americans for dismissing their values, Barack Obama arrogantly tried to spin his way out of his outrageous San Francisco remarks. You can’t be more out of touch than that.”

I was trying to think of some commentary appropriate to address the inanity and ignorance of Obama’s remarks but, like the Pennsylvania audience to whom he was speaking, I find myself speechless.
