Taking a stand for free speech, European newspapers are reprinting cartoons of Mohammad that caused violent dissatisfaction in some Muslim communities two years ago. I opined on the subject at the time and the arguments for free speech are just as strong and necessary today.

Three days ago Danish authorities arrested a number of terrorists plotting to assassinate one of the cartoonists. This recalls George Bernard Shaw’s declaration that, “The ultimate form of censorship is assassination.”

In another story, related only by way of media, the Los Angeles Times is undergoing an enormous management shake-up. 100-150 jobs are expected to be cut.
