Dartmouth Blazes a Trail
Dartmouth’s turnaround on military affairs is a major reform of which the College can be quite proud. Today, The New York Times profiles President Jim Wright and an Iraq War veteran, Samuel Crist, who’ll be coming to campus next year.
Dartmouth’s new embrace of the military sets it above and beyond its peer schools, and is one example of just how agile and cutting a ship she is. If the will were there to innovate and to streamline in other areas, Dartmouth could.
UPDATE: A reader justly reminds me that, although Dartmouth has ceased to be hostile to the military, it may not be especially welcoming either, particularly given the number of ROTC commissions this year. (Zero.)
