I am a bit late on this, but: All the pretty girls are for Sarko.

By the bye, does anyone understand this tripe about Segolene Royal’s defeat not being any kind of an omen for Hillary Clinton? All at once, folks began pretending that Royal campaigned exclusively on her sex (she campaigned on well-articulated socialist economic policies, too) and that Hillary Clinton isn’t emphasizing her sex at all (she is, with custom-designed women’s events occurring regularly, and her campaign is staking a lot on the belief that Hillary can overcome her negatives by convincing women to vote for her as a woman). Their strategies are actually quite thoroughly similar. And just look at the atmosphere. The brash Royal—the horribly unpopular outgoing president—the cool and collected Sarkozy—the massive latent immigration problem—the statism versus privatism debate—the mother versus father election.

Could this past French election look any more like the upcoming American one?
