Fiscal infelicity, two (or more) open trustee seats, a deep endowment draw in a rough market. Not to mention the Second Dartmouth College Case. Jim Kim & Co. have a lot to contemplate. Dartblog brings you news and commentary from Hanover and the world at large.

ABC News Discovers Iran
The Blotter has posted a report saying that the very deadliest explosions in Iraq come from improvised explosive devices made in Iran, of Iranian cogs. Richard Clarke is quoted: “I think it’s very hard to escape the conclusion that, in all probability, the Iranian government is knowingly killing U.S. troops,” he says.
The perceived failure of the Iraq War: Media Edition has been intensely profitable for Iran, and for its current political leadership particularly, which might otherwise be knee-deep in a bloody coup. Nothing brings a nation together like an enemy, and nothing creates an enemy quite so well as radicalized religion. Iraq War: Reality Edition, on the other hand, has not fadged as well for Iran. It has found itself financially committed to terrorist operations, delivering to our fair country a daily dose of casus belli.
But of course, one mustn’t war against the Iranians. They are far too middle eastern. Instead, this may be one instance in which the Albright Doctrine—that means launching a flurry of targeted missiles from a safe and warm offshore post—might actually be useful. With the exception of gas supply, it is difficult to imagine the downside to un-doing Iran’s munitions depots.
