« Thank God for Constancy | Home | UND v. Dartmouth Game Report »

In the long arc of history, it is hard to think that this moment—four o’clock eastern, December 29, 2006, when Saddam Hussein asked to remain in United States custody instead of being transferred to Iraqi custody—will not forever be remembered as one of great confession. A vile tyrant, years at war with a good America, appeals to her in order to avoid being delivered to the gallows, to the cries, and to the custody of his countrymen.

Anyone who believes that America is what is wrong with the world needs to think about this.

UPDATE: Saddam will be executed before 6 a.m. Saturday, Baghdad time, or 10 p.m. Friday, eastern time.
