George W. Bush: Admired Man
The Gallup Organization has for most of its existence conducted a periodic survey asking Americans whom they admire. No suggestions are given — it is a purely open question. The latest results have just been released, and President Bush tops the list, with 13% of respondents mentioning him. Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Hussein Obama are third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. For women, Hillary Clinton tops the list, with 13% mentions.
To me, the most fascinating table in the report is the one showing the breakdowns by party. Democrats ranked Bill Clinton as their most-admired fellow, followed by Barack Hussein Obama and Jimmy Carter. Republicans ranked George W. Bush first, followed by Bill Graham and George H. W. Bush. Who did independents select? George W. Bush, followed by Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.
