This bright Sunday, let’s give ‘em all an airing. Below, you’ll find a film of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin—with a little camero by Johnny Carson. It was recorded on June 20, 1965 at the Kiel Opera House in St. Louis, Missouri. “The Birth of the Blues” was first sung by Sinatra early in his career when he was recording with Columbia records. It was recorded in June of 1952 for Sinatra’s LP, “The Voice,” which you can still buy. The song was composed by Ray Henderson, with lyrics by DeSylva/Brown.
