Taylor Owen nominates Bryant Park in midtown, which is a nice place, yes. But in truth, I’ve been noticing a distinct dearth of free hotspots lately. I’ve been spending a lot of time in cities. Philly two evenings ago, Manhattan last night, etc. And do you know what? These cityslickers. They encrypt their networks and require authenication. Not like us folks here in the New Jersey suburbs. We’re content to let that ‘linksys’ SSID just keep on keepin’ on. No WPA, no PKID, no MAC filtering. Just good old fashioned neighborly reckless networking.
