McKinsey report calls for more transparency

The consulting firm McKinsey gave Dartmouth a thorough audit and says more transparency is necessary. Of course, some have been saying that for a good while. Here is a good way to get a jump on transparency: Release to the Dartmouth community the actual McKinsey report.

RELATED: I am pointed to this comment (the last one; keep scrolling) at the blog of the Dartmouth Alumni Association’s Executive Committee:

I received an email from the Alumni Council letting me know all about the very important work that some consulting firm has done, having interviewed (if you can believe it) 50 students, faculty and administrators at the college. I know that it’s hard to believe that they could have canvassed so large a number of people, but there you have it.

I would like to know: how much was paid to this firm? How were the pertinent 50 chosen? Who suggested and/or authorized this study? Whose chose the consulting group? Does the consulting group have any connection with anyone associated with Dartmouth that might be germane to an understanding of how they were chosen? Mind you, I’m not making any kind of accusation. Let’s just say that I’ve become interested in these issues as a result of the quality of feedback that I’ve come to expect.

They are, I imagine, “working through those issues”.

UPDATE: Readers advise that I provide a link to Jim Wright’s letter and to the executive summary of the report, which was made public. Certainly not enough, as I think is clear, but it’s something.
