The Prepositional ‘Absent’

It appears that both Ann Althouse and Sasha Volokh attach something lawerly and distasteful to the use of the word absent as a preposition. I think it sounds nice that way.

UPDATE: Sasha Volokh corrects me. He did not make any normative statement about that particular usage; Ann Althouse did.
