Moving Ahead on Immigration
The Senate today voted 83-16 to build three hundred miles of fencing and to provide five hundred miles of vehicle barriers along the southern border. Also today, the Senate voted 99 to 0 in approval of the Kyl/Cornyn amendment, which alters our immigration law to ban felons and repeat criminals from being offered any kind of amnesty or citizenship. This is all in addition to the tough measures which the White House is pursuing. The nation has spoken, the Democrats have been squeezed to the right on this issue, and Washington is finally serious about making sure that ‘border’ still means ‘border’.
