The PoliPundit Crack-Up
I was not clear on what passion the immigration debate inspired until I saw the great crack-up over at the PoliPundit blog, which has long been one of the most interesting, edifying political websites on the right. The main writer, PoliPundit, is a hard-liner against George Bush’s moderate policy; he wants illegals out, now. All of his co-writers, who signed on as “guest bloggers” a good deal of time after PoliPundit created the site in the first place, support the moderate position. In the wake of the president’s speech last evening—“every word coming out of his mouth is a lie,” he said—he issued an e-mail edict to his co-bloggers requiring, practically, that they either change their opinion on illegal immigration to support his, that they stop writing about it altogether, or that they take their opinions elsewhere.
