Will The Mohammad Cartoons Be On Television Tonight?

Part two of South Park’s Mohammad Cartoon duo airs for the first time tonight. And, of course, the big question is whether or not the cartoons themselves will appear. The first episode received wide praise in the right-of-center blogosphere. Will the second? Stay tuned: Ten of the clock, to-night!

NOTA BENE: I should make plain that these aren’t The Mohammad Cartoons. The “South Park” story, in typical fashion, is about another vulgar animated program threatening to depict Mohammad and the network “pussing out” and refusing to show it. That other program is an immediate metaphor for “South Park” itself, which asked at the end of the first episode, “Will Comedy Central puss out?” And that will be learned this evening. Confused? Then perhaps you do not watch enough “South Park” in general.

LATER: Well, a whole slew of points were made, but Comedy Central did censor Mohammad. The Muslim prophet was not shown at all. Matt Stone and Trey Parker put into the show a note to this effect. The comments are flying at the Volokh Conspiracy.
