Evening of the Late Romantics
In The Dartmouth, Lucy Randall previews the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra’s saturday evening performance, which will include Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival Overture,” Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2 in E-Flat and Sibelius’ second. Lauren and I have tickets and are planning to go, although she has even less tolerance than I for post-Romantic flibbertigibbets. I think we walked out of an Ives performance at the New York Philharmonic a year or two ago. At intermission, of course! But I’m sure the DSO will give a wonderful account… greatly looking forward to their season debut.
