Beethoven Manuscript Found In Seminary Library
Heather Carbo, the librarian at a seminary just outside Philadelphia, was sitting on a shelf while cleaning archival cabinets last July, and discovered a lost Beethoven manuscript for the Grosse Fuge, which went missing 115 years ago. The piece is a piano for four hands, and has been verified by Sotheby’s experts. It reportedly contains many corrections in LVB’s own hand; some so deep the page is punctured.
The manuscript will be displayed in New York from November 16-19 and it will then go to London for auction on December 1.
