“Just obeying local law…”

Go to http://maps.google.com. Type ‘Taiwan’ into the search box and click ‘search’. When the map of the island of Taiwan appears, look to the left-hand panel and Google’s geographic data for Taiwan appears. It says: “Taiwan: Province of China.”

MORE: Other online map outlets, such as Mapquest, Infoplease, WorldAtlas, and Atlapedia display Taiwan as separate nation.

The Taipei Times reports on local outrage.
