Free VoIP and Deep Search

There are some cool new Google toys out. If you aren’t a fan of the way the world’s largest search engine conducts itself, worry not. Google’s consumer software offerings are written by other people at other companies. They just didn’t have the bulk to get it out there, so things like Picasa and Keyhole were bought by the internet juggernaut, made freeware, and released as part of a very smart marketing campaign. (“Google is the computer user’s chummy friend and necessary partner.”) I wouldn’t be surprised if Google’s two latest softwares were created outside Google.

But however they came to be, Google Talk and Google Desktop Search V2 are now released and ready to go. Neat.
