The New Cornyn-Kyl Immigration Bill

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - All of the estimated 10 million to 12 million illegal aliens in the United States would have to leave the country under an immigration bill introduced on Tuesday by two conservative Republican senators. […]

Cornyn said the bill contained an orderly and dignified way for illegal immigrants in the country to return home.

They would have five years in which to do so. Illegals who refuse would face fines of $2,000 a year for each year they stayed beyond the deadline…

Who knew that a new law would be required to identify illegals as illegals? In any event, it is good to see the Republican party leading on an issue on which the President refuses to take the strong stance necessary. This is not merely a cultural, social, or economic issue. Enforcing immigration policy (Of which part and parcel is the notion that illegals are violating the law by being within US borders.) is essential to national security.
