The Final Guy Wire: The Times

The New York Times, in a really awfully written piece, is also going along with Roberts, clinging to hope that one day he will blossom into O’Connor Mk II.

UPDATE: The editors, of course, are probably not in favor of Roberts and I suspect they’ll come out against him in coming weeks. What I meant was that the news coverage is skewing positive.

MORE: Noah Solo at Fresh Politics: “I think how Roberts’ confirmation plays out is going to depend on his stance on abortion.”

Let’s hope Noah is wrong, and Senate Democrats can avoid the sort of litmus test, check-check plus-check minus scoring system that does little to analyze a nominee and much to minimize the seriousness of the Supreme Court.
