More Durbin Backlash
Nancy Pelosi is being asked, “Does the speech made by Senator Durbin also reflect your views as the House Democratic Leader? In not, we respectfully request that you renounce Senator Durbin’s comments.” [PDF]
I can’t imagine what the strategies at play are. All I know is that if the parties were reversed, CNN would be going wall-to-wall with this.
UPDATE: It occurs to me that Doug Forrester ought to seize on these comments. Ask Corzine if he agrees. He’ll say no, and it is a point-draw for the NJGOV race and a boost for the national GOP.
UPDATE: The Anti-Defamation League jumps on-board.
UPDATE: Via an e-mail from Jon Shea, here is an NPR report which, though ridiculously skewed, contains some good audio.
UPDATE: Hah. David Logan made some phone calls:
Ted Kennedy 202-224-4543….”Not quite sure, I’ll have to check on that.” Not quite sure?Joe Lieberman 202-224-4041….”Mr. Lieberman has no comment at all.” Really?
John Kerry 202-224-2742….”Sen. Kerry doesn’t have a position on Sen. Durbin’s comments.” Why doesn’t this surprise me?
