What is a Pharmacist?
To me, nothing more than an intelligent and well-trained individual who happens to be in the employ of a private company which happens to be in the business of dispensing medicine. So this pro-coercion libertarian rant in the din over whether phrarmacists should be forced to dispense abortion pills and the like seems, as John Kalb notes, quite out of character. Kalb says, and I agree:
Yeah, pharmacists are licensed, but so are lawyers (even if the state doesn’t do it, instead choosing to charter bar associations).I don’t know why a pharmacist should be forced to do something he deems unethical any more than a lawyer should.
In both cases, there may only be one lawyer in a given town, but it’s not like one can’t drive to the next town and find another.
