Intellectuals of the academic persuasion truly believe that they have been blessed with the best way to achieve Nirvana. Since they are the most educated and the most articulate, they must be right. Therefore there are only two reasons why anyone would disagree with them. Some people are just too ignorant to see the light - take Reagan, Bush or Eisenhower. If they are not too ignorant, then they must be evil like Cheney and Rove.
